AI Image to JEF Embroidery File for Janome & Elna

Describe a design, generate it with AI, and download a ready-to-stitch JEF file for your Janome or Elna machine.

JEF is the native embroidery format for Janome and Elna machines. With SewFlow you can skip sourcing artwork entirely — describe what you want, let AI generate it, and download a JEF file ready to load on your machine.

    Step-by-Step: AI to JEF

    1. 1Open sewflow.com/ai.
    2. 2Type your design description and pick an optional style.
    3. 3Click Generate Design.
    4. 4In the converter, set your hoop size and adjust thread colors.
    5. 5Select JEF as the output format.
    6. 6Preview the stitches, then click Download JEF.
    7. 7Copy the .jef file to a USB stick in the EMBF folder and load it on your Janome or Elna machine.

    About the JEF Format

JEF (Janome Embroidery Format) stores absolute needle positions, color-change commands, and jump stitches. It is read by most Janome Memory Craft and Horizon models, as well as many Elna Expressive machines. SewFlow writes byte-correct JEF headers so your design loads without errors.

    Tips for Clean JEF Output

    • Steer prompts toward flat, bold artwork with few colors.
    • Keep designs above 30 mm so fine details survive in thread.
    • Use the preview to catch cramped fills before downloading.
    • Test stitch on scrap fabric first.

    JEF+ Compatible

If your machine uses JEF+, SewFlow's standard JEF output works perfectly — JEF+ is a superset and reads .jef files without issue.
