How to Preview Embroidery Stitches Online for Free

See exactly how your embroidery will look before you stitch a single thread — SewFlow's animated stitch preview is free and works in any browser.

One of the most frustrating parts of embroidery is stitching out a design only to discover it doesn't look right. Thread coverage is uneven, small details are lost, or colors don't read as expected. SewFlow's animated stitch preview lets you see the full stitch-by-stitch simulation before you download the file — so you can catch problems before they cost you time and thread.

    What SewFlow's Stitch Preview Shows

    • The order in which stitches are laid down — so you can see build-up and coverage
    • Color regions and where thread changes occur
    • Jump stitches and trim points
    • Overall design coverage and fill density
    • How the final stitched design will approximately appear

How to Use the Stitch Preview

    1. 1Upload your image or create your text design at sewflow.com/image or sewflow.com/text.
    2. 2Set your size and format settings.
    3. 3Click the 'Preview Stitches' button.
    4. 4Watch the animated simulation run — stitches are drawn progressively, just as the machine would lay them.
    5. 5If you see issues (sparse coverage, odd jump patterns), adjust the size or simplify your source image.
    6. 6When satisfied, download the file.

    What to Look For

In the stitch preview, look for even fill density across all colored regions, clean outlines around the design, and minimal long jump stitches that cross open areas. Long jumps can show through on light fabrics and should be avoided where possible.
