    BMP normally avoids lossy compression artifacts, but it usually lacks useful transparency. A flat border-connected background is easier to remove than a textured, shadowed, or multi-colour backdrop.

    BMP preparation tips

    • Keep the background a single flat colour so the automatic background removal can strip it cleanly.
    • Use one flat background colour around the subject if the bitmap does not have transparency.
    • Simplify gradients, shadows, and details that are smaller than the intended stitch size.
    • Check the live preview for unwanted background regions before saving.

    Frequently asked questions

    My BMP has a white background — will it be stitched?

    A dominant flat border background can usually be removed, but you should confirm the preview. White details inside the subject are preserved when they are enclosed, and the eraser can clean up any unwanted stitched area.

    Can I turn BMP into PES, JEF, or DST?

    Does BMP preserve every image detail?
