    How photographs become embroidery

A camera image can contain thousands of colours, soft focus, shadows, and background detail. SewFlow reduces that information into a smaller set of thread-colour regions, then traces those regions into stitches. The result is a stylised interpretation, so a tightly cropped, high-contrast subject works better than a busy scene.

    Choose a convertible photo

    • Crop closely around one clear subject before uploading.
    • Choose even lighting and strong separation between the subject and background.
    • Avoid expecting faces, fur, or scenery to retain every photographic detail.
    • Use fewer thread colours for a cleaner, easier stitch-out.

    Frequently asked questions

Will the embroidery look exactly like my photograph?

No. The converter simplifies photographic colour and detail into thread regions. Treat the output as a stylised embroidery interpretation.

    Which photos work best?

Single subjects with simple backgrounds, clear edges, and strong contrast work best. Busy group photos and low-light scenes are harder to simplify cleanly.

Can I remove the photo background?

Yes. The converter includes automatic background removal plus stitch erasing and layer controls for cleanup.

    Is photo conversion free?

Creating, previewing, and saving the design is free. Downloading the machine file requires a paid plan or bonus credit.
